From themes of researchers' networks to hierarchic thesaurus
Evolving through analytical approach
Researchers take part to or adhere into a given network because they share at least a common research theme. This theme can be addressed by researches through distinct approaches or various disciplines. Consequently, a research theme can be detailed, such a delineating process leads to a hierarchic thesaurus.
COLIRE : an example of thesaurus
COLIRE (COtton LIterature REferencing) is a thesaurus carroed out in the framework of the ISSCRI Project, conducted from Jan. 2007 to Feb. 2009. This hierarchic thesaurus delineates the theme of impacts of cotton production into four levels with regard to societal concerns.
At the first level of COLIRE thesaurus, items identified are:
- Living conditions and livelihood
- Competitiveness
- Management of cotton sector
- Cotton policy
- Environment
- Health
- Sustainability of cotton sector
- Role in economy
