Adoption missions

Using the results of the situation analysis made in SADC countries, a full information system (LIMS) has been developed. The LIMS adoption missions were launched when the first "stable" elements of the LIMS system were made available, i.e. in August 2008. The first country to be visited and to be trained was Zambia.

A standard "LIMS Adoption Mission" comprises the following activities:

A stakeholders workshop to introduce the entire SADC/FANR information strategy and the various LIMS components, i.e. the AIMS and LIMS portals (and all WEB2.0 tools embedded), the LIMS application (software), the LIMS Web/GIS facilities, the standard data reporting templates, the guidelines for national standard operating procedures (SOPs), the institutional network (LIMS task force and sub committees) needed for the implementation of the system;

A training of trainers ToT on the LIMS application and some web tools for a limited number of key personnel, who will become trainers and carry out further trainings at national level (e.g. for provinces and regions);

A final evaluation of all sources of information who may nationally contribute to the "LIMS collaborative system", through the use of the harmonized data-capture templates or specific "importing templates" developped for the LIMS software.
