Capitalizing through referencing relevant documents in sciences and techniques
An approach and a tool useful to researchers
The approach and the tool carried out have resulted from the observation that:
- when common tools or products lack, researchers' network cannot be sufficiently active because of lack of sense of participation to a network
- updated knowledge of the state of art is crucial to the quality of researcher's performance
The tool, called SLIRE (Scientific Literature Referencing tool), has been carried out for researchers to help respond to the two aboved observations.
An original approach adapted to the Internet time
The approach followed covers three levels of originality:
- definition of an hierarchic thesaurus to make easier the referencing and the consulting of documents
- feeding of databases of documents in a decentralized and shared way
- operation of a single tool for multiple networks of researchers
The tool is operational
The tool is operational since August 2010, it is bilingual (French and English) and it runs with two complete thesauruses, but other ones could be added if felt necessary by users.

From themes of researchers' networks to hierarchic thesaurus
Evolving through analytical approach
Researchers take part to or adhere into a given network because they share at least a common research theme. This theme can be addressed by researches through distinct approaches or various disciplines. Consequently, a research theme can be detailed, such a delineating process leads to a hierarchic thesaurus.
